Nomination Deadline Extended for Costa Miller Scholarship for DSPs in Post-Secondary Education The nomination deadline for the 2022 Costa Miller Scholarship Award has been extended until Friday, June 10 at 5 PM. This award is presented to two outstanding human service professionals, whose primary responsibilities include direct contact with persons served, and is intended to aid in their pursuit of post-secondary education or training that leads to a degree, technical certificate, and/or certification. The selected individuals will each receive a $1,500 award and be recognized during the 2022 INARF Annual Awards Luncheon on October 5. Please note that all Costa N. Miller Scholarship Award nominations MUST be complete, include the CEO/Executive Director authorized signature, and be returned via email to Barb Young (barb@inarf.org) by 5 PM on Friday, June 10, 2022. There is no limit to the number of nominations an INARF member organization may submit. Jeff Patton, CEO/President, Arc of Wabash County, had this to say about his experience nominating a coworker who received a 2021 Scholarship Award: “The Costa Miller Scholarship is a wonderful way to reward valued employees who are seeking to further their education and career. In this competitive labor market, it also serves as a good employee retention opportunity. Research clearly demonstrates that recognition for a job well done is high on employees’ job satisfaction radar, as is career development, and a good relationship with one’s direct supervisor. The Costa Miller Scholarship “checks all these boxes.” But most of all, investing in our industry workforce only improves the lives and care for those with disabilities whom we serve. Better employees equal more satisfied program participants. When Arc of Wabash County’s Heather Enyeart won the Costa Miller Scholarship last year, she was profusely thankful to Arc of Wabash County and to her supervisors for believing in her and investing in her career. A little recognition goes a long way to “expand happiness” and job satisfaction. I would highly recommend nominating employees for the Costa Miller Scholarship, because everybody wins!” The INARF Leadership Academy Curriculum Has Concluded for the Class of 2022 Class IV, the final Class of the INARF Leadership Academy – Class of 2022 was held on June 2 & 3.
