As INARF previously shared, BDDS announced in their updated policy guidance that the limit of 60 calendar days of therapeutic leave for individuals in group homes was modified to 180 calendar days of therapeutic leave per calendar year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing SGL providers to bill the leave rate when an individual is on therapeutic leave for up to 180 days per calendar year. Members have reported that their claims for these additional therapeutic leave days continue to deny. INARF reached out to DDRS regarding this issue and received the following update: In working to implement these flexibilities, we’ve discovered that they must be reviewed and approved by CMS as part of our Disaster SPA. While we are comfortable that they will be approved, we are working with our team to move them through the approval process. We do not have a precise timeline for the approval process, but will work with any impacted providers to ensure they are able to bill once the changes are approved. INARF will share additional information as it becomes available.
