INARF Q&A List Serve Question: Pre-Employment Drug Testing

Question:

Does your organization do pre-employment drug testing of applicants prior to them being hired?

Responses:

  • Yes
  • We do complete pre-employment drug screens for all applicants prior to hire.

During pre-employment, we will allow them to start work after notifying them that marijuana use is not allowed while in our employ. We will randomly test them over the next 6 months and if they test positive again, they are terminated. If they test positive during a random screening, we refer them to the EAP for counseling and then test again sometime in the next 6 months.
