Question:

I am looking for a job description for the position of Human Resources Director.

Job Title:             Director of Human Resources 

Supervisor:         President

Department:      Human Resources  

FLSA Status:       Salary

Summary: Assist management staff in personnel related matters.  To the extent possible maintain consistency within departments and within the company.  Maintain compliance with H.R. related regulations.

Essential Duties:

  1. Recruit and fill open positions as appropriate.
  2. Review/revise personnel policies and procedures.
  3. Manage/administer policies agency-wide to ensure consistency.
  4. Manage all unemployment claim responses, appeal unfavorable decisions when appropriate and represent the organization at all unemployment hearings.
  5. Maintain personnel-related compliance with DOL, & ISO 9001-2015.
  6. Manage/administer staff benefit program.
  7. Administer/maintain custody of agency personnel records.
  8. Provide personal involvement in United Way/blood drives/Human Resources/Employment related programs.
  9. Assure compliance with FMLA is maintained.
  10. Assure compliance with EEOC regulations.  File EE0-1 report and Vets-100A report.
  11. Assure Affirmative Action Regulation is maintained.
  12. Duties of the Corporate Compliance Officer
  13. Serve as Company Privacy/HIPAA Compliance Officer.
  14. Assist all management staff in preparation of disciplinary actions and responses to staff grievances.
  15. Assist in or take the lead in investigations, as appropriate.
  16. Supervise and support other Human Resources staff.
  17. Function as Internal Auditor for ISO auditing.
  18. All other duties as deemed necessary.
  19. Additional hours if needed are mandatory

Qualifications: 

  1. Maintain reliable transportation available for use during working hours, valid driver’s license and provide proof of automobile liability coverage.
  2. Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department.
  3. Maintain good hygiene.
  4. Possess excellent research and writing skills.
  5. Possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  6. Possess the ability to use tact and empathy when dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
  7. Possess the ability to establish effective working relationships.
  8. Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  9. Be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office products (Computer literate).
  10. Accept responsibility and demonstrate leadership.
  11. Be able to multitask effectively in a sometimes fast paced environment.
  12. Trustworthy- Able to keep business confidences as required.

Education and/or Experience: 

B.A./B.S. in Human Resource Management, Personnel Administration, or closely related field desired. HS diploma or equivalent required.  Minimum of two years human resource experience.  Working knowledge of employment laws, the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

The employee must be able to perform the essential duties of this job.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles and outside weather conditions.  The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally loud.  Use of Personal Protective Equipment such as vinyl or latex gloves is occasionally required.
