Question: How are members accommodating training new employees in orientation, CPR, Crisis Prevention Intervention, Defensive Driving and CoreAB, outside the normal face to face, on-site, traditional hours? Responses: We video tape as many classes as we can that makes sense to do so. We also do special Saturday orientation classes for some new hires who cannot meet during the week. I train in house for orientation. We use I-Train online for training. We have our nurse do our CPR/First Aid Training. We couldn't find any places that would do CPR during Covid so we sent our nurse to get trained to teach for us. We use virtual orientation, videos, and flexible scheduling. We have decentralized our orientation process to allow individualized orientation and training. A team of supervisors handle their departments for orientation which allows a great deal more flexibility. CPR has transitioned to ProTraining online training so the individual only needs to schedule a short skill evaluation with a trainer which can be scheduled at a variety of times to meet their schedule. Much of the other training is hosted through online training videos and then hands on training with their supervisor instead of large classroom trainings. CoreA&B is the one area we are still managing is classroom training which is restrictive, I am very interested in how other companies have made this more flexible.
