Are any agencies offering domestic partnership benefits or considering offering them to employees?

QUESTION: Are any agencies offering domestic partnership benefits or considering offering them to employees? If yes, are those agencies willing to share the nature of those benefits offered and the experience associated with it? Additionally, with more states making same sex marriage legal, are any agencies offering benefits to same sex couples legally married in another state?

Our agency has offered benefits to domestic partnerships over the past three years. The criteria are that they have to prove (through bank accounts, utilities, shared address, etc.) that they have been in a committed relationship for the past twelve months. The criteria contain nine categories that must be met.

Our agency only offers domestic partner benefits to same sex couples. Opposite sex couples are able to marry and receive benefits through that partnership. We offer both medical and dental insurance. The insurance carrier provided an affidavit for the partners to sign. Since Indiana does not recognize same sex marriage, there are imputed tax consequences to the employed partner. If the partners were married in another state, there would be no federal imputed income tax, only state.

Effective January 1, 2014, our agency will be offering health coverage to domestic partners. Our other insurance plans (outside of medical) do not allow domestic partnership coverage at this time. We are not offering any benefits to same sex marriages at this time.
