Our agency is looking to implement an attendance policy based on a point system.

 
QUESTION: Our agency is looking to implement an attendance policy based on a point system. We are interested in what other agencies are doing with the implementation of this type of system and would be interested in seeing some sample policies. We would appreciate if other agencies would send their policies/practices and any other pertinent information, such as challenges, successes, etc.
 

Our agency has a five page attendance policy that includes both excused and unexcused absences, outlining what would be considered an excused absence (illness, family death or emergency, jury duty, etc.). We track 1 point for each excused absence/tardy, 6 points for each unexcused absence, 3 points for each unexcused tardy. The employee will receive a verbal counseling at 14 points, written warnings at 18 and 21 points, and termination of employment at 24 points.
