How do other agencies handle exempt staff hours?

QUESTION: How do other agencies handle exempt staff hours? Do they require them to complete a timesheet and document hours worked? Would any agency be willing to share a template of their exempt time sheet? Is there a minimum/maximum amount of time in a day, week, etc. that an exempt employee must work in order to receive full pay?"

We do require our exempt employees to complete a timesheet for each pay period. The templa te is the standard time sheet utilized by ll employees. If an employee is off work, they are required to utilize Pa id Employee Days (PEDs). If the employee does not have any accrued PDEs and the time off is for medical leave, their wages are reduced by the amount of time not at work.

***

All employees at our agency, including exempt employees, are required to complete time sheets. There is no minimum or maximum amount of time for a day, week, etc. See attached timesheet.

***

Our agency does not track worked hours for exempt employees. We use the honor system, but have concerns that it is being abused and are considering some different options. If an exempt employee works at least two hours on a given day, they may leave work without using sick or vacation time.

***

Our agency does not require that exempt employees complete a timesheet or document hours worked.

***

Our employees are required to complete the same timesheet as non-exempt employees, as we use that to track benefits, vacation time, sick time, etc.

***

Our agency does not track worked hours for exempt employees, they are not required to complete a timesheet. We do not dock employees for any missed hours or days due to illness. However, personal and vacation time must be used in eight hour increments.

Please see attached samples of exempt employee timesheet and explanation of exempt status. The narrative within our explanation of exempt status was reviewed by an attorney specializing in personnel issues.
