Social Media Guidelines

 
QUESTION:
On your organization’s social media page, does your organization have associated pages or groups for parents &/or families of individuals supported? If so, what are your organization’s guidelines for participants and policies related to page administration and monitoring the group(s)?
 


The only family page we have is a Facebook closed group which we started in order to Facebook live stream a specific event. That is the only time we have used it and it has been inactive since that time, March 2019. 

Our organization’s guidelines for participants to join:
Family members had to submit a request & answer two questions.
  • Are you a parent, guardian or advocate of a person served at XX?
  • To whom are you connected (person served)?

Members are allowed to comment, but not to post.

Policies related to page administration and monitoring the group(s):
Our policy is that all social media pages are administered by the Community Relations Director. Other staff may have primary responsibility for posting on different pages we have, but this person is the primary admin and monitors all pages. 


We have a group that is restricted, individuals have to ask to join and then be approved by a staff member, as the group is specifically only for a specific group. Individuals must answer a question to when they participated in the specific group. The staff member then references our registration records to verify, before approving the individual.

They also have to agree to the following rules -
1. Be Kind and Courteous: We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kiRespect Everyone's Privacyndness is required.
2. Respect Everyone's Privacy: Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What's shared in the group should stay in the group.
3. No Promotions or Spam: Give more than you take to this group. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links aren't allowed.

Once in the group, anyone can post.


We do not have any associated pages or groups on our social media or website.


Staff is prohibited from "friending" clients on Facebook and other similar media formats.
