QUESTION: Would any other Day Service providers share what they are doing to document individuals who are able to self-administer medications during day service hours? Are the individuals required to turn the medication over to staff, are they able to keep medication on their person, etc.? We ensure it is in the PCP, ISP and related plans such as High Risk Plan. We also have it noted on our intake documentation and Participant Information/Emergency Medical forms. We ask that it be locked/secured in some manner while attending day program as to not allow other individuals served to access it.. This is basically all we have – a procedure and an annual form. Some individuals keep their medications others we keep their medications for them until it is time for them to take it – we go case by case.
