Would any organization be willing to share any policies or documents you require volunteers to complete?

QUESTION: Would any organization be willing to share any policies or documents you require volunteers to complete?

Our organization uses volunteers in many of our programs and as office support. In the programs it is nice to have an extra set of hands to help with hand over hand activities so that all clients can participate in all activities. Some volunteers help organize our in-house library, file for office staff, attend special events and work in our Simply Amazing Market to help assemble gift packages. All volunteers must fill out an application and release forms. We perform background checks, TB & Drug tests before a volunteer can start. Volunteers get annual TB testing as well.

We allow volunteers to contribute in a variety of ways as long as they have signed the proper liability waiver and we have prepared them with information concerning the expectations of all our volunteers.

1. All volunteers will come through the Volunteer Coordinator irrespective of the setting.
2. The Volunteer Coordinator will coordinate the completion of an onboarding packet.
He or she may designate the completion of the packet to another person if needed ( i.e. Receptionists).
3. The department director has the authority to decide the type of supervision a volunteer may need while on site. This pertains to both children and adult volunteers.
4. The Volunteer Coordinator will edit the language of our releases and consents with the help of our liability & risk insurance carrier representatives.
5. The HR Director will coordinate the legal review of all volunteer waivers and consents from the agency’s corporate counsel. In doing so, the agency is covered from an insurance standpoint, should legal proceedings arise, due to the behavior or action of a volunteer.
6. The Volunteer Coordinator will research best practices ( Boys and Girls Clubs/ YWCA/ etc…) regarding volunteer placement and documentation.
