For members and families

Checklist

What to watch for

Checkmark

If you are transitioning to Structured Family Caregiving, you should be working with your care manager to select a provider and understand your tier or level, according to your needs. More information about what to expect and differences in the process between adults and children is available here.

Arrow

If you are searching for a Structured Family Caregiving provider, make sure you check out both available lists. The Statewide Provider list includes providers that are offering services in all Indiana counties; the Provider by County list is a county-by-county listing of providers offering services in select counties only.

Arrow pointing right

Service plans should be updated by June 15 by the care manager to reflect your family’s decision to continue with attendant care provided by another paid caregiver who is not a legally responsible individual or move to Structured Family Caregiving on July 1.

FAQ

Your questions answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Is skilled respite included if I am receiving Structured Family Caregiving?

Answer: Skilled respite is not included in Structured Family Caregiving but can be requested as a separate waiver service for those receiving Structured Family Caregiving, beginning July 1, 2024. Work with your care manager to assess needs related to the respite being requested and coordinate the skilled respite services.

Question: Is the service of Attendant Care becoming Structured Family Caregiving in July?

Answer: No. Attendant Care and Structured Family Caregiving are separate services. Individuals can choose which service best meets the needs of the individual and family.

Question: Should individuals terminate the Aged and Disabled Waiver and just receive the Home Health prior authorization?

Answer: No. Services on the A&D waiver may be provided in addition to, and should complement, the Home Health prior authorization offered on the state plan.

Additional FAQs are available on the FSSA Medicaid Strategies web page.

Send your questions to Medicaid@fssa.in.gov.
