INARF would like to share the below COVID-19 updates. Cases in Indiana and the US have been surging the past few weeks due to the holidays and the Omicron COVID-19 variant. INARF is aware that this is having a significant impact on many of our members and can facilitate peer-to-peer discussions for any member who is seeking guidance on how to manage this surge. The IDOH COVID-19 dashboard contains data regarding the recent surge of cases. IDOH has announced that due to the significant increase in COVID-19 cases and shortages of tests, the only people eligible for rapid testing at state and local health department testing sites will be those 18 and younger and symptomatic people over the age of 50. This impacts the state testing process only. DDRS has been tracking the increase in cases for individuals and staff. As part of its ongoing monitoring of the pandemic, providers are required to report provider temporary closures or temporary restrictions via the BDDS providers – Notification of Re-opening/Temporary closure of services form. DDRS will be hosting a provider and case management webinar today from 3-4 PM EST. The CDC recently announced adjustments to the isolation and quarantine period for the general population living in community settings. On a FAQ webpage regarding the adjustments to isolation and quarantine period, the CDC noted that these updates do not apply to people living in congregate settings – “In certain congregate setting that have high-risk of secondary transmission (e.g., correctional facilities and homeless shelters), CDC currently recommends a 10-day quarantine (if exposed) and isolation (if infected) period for residents.”
