IPAS Mission: “To protect and promote the rights of individuals with disabilities through empowerment and advocacy.” IPAS Vison: To live in a society where persons with disabilities are free from abuse and neglect, are free to be effective self advocates, and are free of all forms of discrimination; allowing for full inclusion in society. Goal 1 Preventing, finding, and stopping abuse and neglect of persons with disabilities Goal 2 Breaking down barriers and ensuring supports are available for persons with disabilites to ensure equality and inclusion in society Equality & Inclusion Priorities - Accessibility - Employment - Education - Community integration - Justice Employment - Discrimination (ADA Title I, EEOC) - Sheltered workshops monitoring - Voc rehab client assistance program - Social security recipients where issue relates to employment Goal 3 Empowering persons with disabilites by serving as a partner in rights issues, providing resources for self-advocacy, and by brining awareness to society to eliminate discrimination Thanks to those who participated in our previous monitoring/survey project Survey says... Demographics - 19 written or emailed responses to IPAS survey - 17 CRPs - 2 SWEPs Findings - All respondents accredited (CRPs were accredited by CARF) - Information for consumers - 100% of CRPs reported equal employment information, wage and hour fact sheet, and grievance procedures are posted - Only one CRP indicated it does not provide ombudsman contact information Referral Sources - Waiver case manager (13) - BDDS (10) - VR (10) - Schools (6) - Group homes (4) - Family (3) - Mental health provider (1) - Law enforcement (1) Integration - 9 respondents indicated that employees with disabilities work with nondisabled individuals* - 2 respondents indicated interaction with nondisabled individuals is limited - 2 respondents indicated employees can volunteer with nondisabled individuals - 3 respondents indicated no integration opportunities Transition to integrated, competitive employment - 3 employers reported having no employees moving to integrated, competitive employment - 10 employers reported a total of 67 employees in the prior 12 months moving to integrated, competitive employment - Retail - Janitorial/housekeeping - Food prep - Production/assembly - Lawn care Coming to a workshop near you?
