QUESTION: Although it is not required for DSPs to have a high school diploma or equivalence, do other agencies require this? Will anyone be willing to share their Policy when it comes to hiring DSPs? We do not require a high school diploma. We do not have a specific hiring policy for DSPS however we do have a selection of personnel policy. We currently require a HS diploma or equivalent but we are in the process of relaxing that requirement for DSP’s. We hire DSPs who do not have a diploma or equivalence. No policy to share. Our application contains the requirements for the job. We dropped our requirement for a diploma or GED to try to attract applicants. We have been able to hire a few more people. Indiana does not require DSPs to have a high school diploma or equivalent. The section of BDDS policy regarding requirements for DSPs is below: All Direct Support Professional Staff working with individual(s) shall meet the following requirements: 1.
