QUESTION: Does your organization have a Termination/Separation of Employment Policy - Procedures for voluntary and involuntary (including employee death) terminations? If so, are you willing to provide a sample? When we complete a termination we always quote this policy in the termination form. Policy for Terminations Our labor attorney has steered us away from putting too much in writing when it comes to terminations so that we have latitude in handling each situation based on the unique set of circumstances. We do not have a standalone policy, it is covered in our employee handbook. Our policy is that the CEO must approve all involuntary terminations and we request a 2 week notice for voluntary terminations, no written policy on death.
