QUESTION: Agencies that hire DSPs without high school diplomas or GEDs, what system do you use to assess the employee’s competence in meeting job requirements? We utilize exams for our training during orientation. For our Supported Living sites ONLY, we waive the high school diploma requirement and provide more (120 days’ worth) of departmental training, using a developed training checklist. Our Group Living sites however, are mandated to only hire DSP’s with High school diplomas or higher. All hires must have a high school diploma.
