QUESTION: Organizations who employ their own in-house maintenance staff, what training resources do you offer them? Are there any videos, websites and/or other resources that you use to document training on safe lifting (not lifting individuals, but lifting boxes, furniture, etc.) and other workplace hazards? In addition to many standard employee trainings, we also offer maintenance personnel specific training in the following areas: Weather Preparedness, Forklift Training, Lock Out, Tag Out, Ergonomics, Back Safety, Fire and Extinguishers, GHS Hazard Communication, Tornadoes and Heat, Winter Driving, HVAC (we have several staff licensed in refrigerant recovery), Appliance Repair, Electrical Safety, Woodworking Tool Safety and Use, Fire Protection/Sprinkler Systems, and ADA requirements. In addition, personnel may be sent to outside trainings/certifications based on needs identified. For training of our maintenance staff we use video's and presentations provided to us free of charge by our Workers Compensation carrier.
