QUESTION: Have any other agencies used I-Train services for online DSP training? Are they happy with it? What are the pros and cons? Our agency has been using I-Train since April 2016. We primarily have been using the program for new employees to cover the basic 460 IAC 6 required training. Our agency has gone through state surveys with group homes, CARF accreditation and the CERT / Re-approval process and we had no issues. There are many aspects of I-Train that are available but we never pursued these options - we mainly stuck to the basics. The representative that is assigned to our agency has always been helpful and very quick to respond to any questions or issues that have come up. The only issue that we have had over the years is that if a new employee has taken I-Train through a previous provider, it was difficult to get them into the system. Overall we have been very pleased with I-Train; however, at this time we are pursuing a different online training program only because we are in need of more extensive training options for our growing agency. We have used I-Train for about 3 years and are very pleased. It is great in that it allows us to have staff work at their own pace and at any location. It covers most of the core competencies from DDRS. We use it mostly for new-hires but are starting to use it as part of our annual training. We will also be using it for in-house modules that we can incorporate into I-Train. We have not used I-Train, but it is one that we have considered looking into for the future. We use I-Train on a limited basis right now and have been happy with it. We have used it for about 2 years to fill in whenever we are unable to schedule a full in-person orientation session. I like the flexibility that it offers if we are in need of hiring in a new staff quickly and don't have time to dedicate our trainer to an entire week just for 1 or 2 people. We also use it as a replacement for our in-person annual training if it an employee is unable to make it to one of the regular sessions. Lastly, it is beneficial for hiring an employee who may have a day job, that we are hiring to work evenings/weekends and is not able to come to daytime training. While it does offer a medication administration option, we still prefer having our nurse do the medication administration training in-person. We also still have to schedule them to come in for CPI training, CPR, and our policy training - so it doesn't completely replace all in-person orientation training. I prefer the hands-on nature of our in-person training and the ability to get to know a new-hire better before placing them into the field for on the job training, however I-Train has been a great solution for us to fill in the gaps! We have not. We used Adobe Captivate and then Accel Consulting. We are now members of SIPN and are beginning to use their training.
