Environmental Scan - Community Supports Co-Chairs Below is some clarification on the self-advocacy requirement for 14c employers in your Order of Selection. INARF believes that the information provided by The Arc of Indiana about self-advocacy as part of their CCIR presentation and through handouts does meet the requirements for the information about self-advocacy. However, the documentation they provide does not meet the requirement for employers because it does not say anything about the employer providing self-advocacy information. We believe employers should develop a separate document for each individual employed at sub-minimum wage stating the date that you as the employer arranged to provide the self-advocacy information through the session with The Arc. The important thing to note is we believe DOL will be looking for two separate pieces of documentation from employers – one from The Arc for the Career Counseling session and one from the employer about the self-advocacy information. They need separate documentation to avoid any confusion from DOL about the employer providing the career counseling, which is not allowed, and to ensure that the employer receives credit for meeting your requirements for arranging for information about self-advocacy to be provided.
